She is beginning to see a big increase in her recruitment. In a reserve role, NIKKI HOGAN, scored 7 points and shared team leafing rebounding with CARA MOODY with 4 boards.

It was a different story with the game tied at 62 with 2 seconds remaining against Springfield (IL) Southeast on Saturday in the Classic. A full court pass that took a bounce and landed at the wing gave ASHLEY just the right amount of time to catch and pull up for a perfect jumper, which she hit at the buzzer for the win, 64-62. She finished with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. The 6’2” SAMI PAWLAK had 17 points and 8 boards. RACHEL HINCHMAN added 12 points.

IBS NAMES GIRLS ALL STATE TEAM FOR ILLINOIS SMALL SCHOOLS

Springfield, IL (February 28, 2011) - - Illinois Basketball Services (IBS) recently named its Illinois Girls Small School All State Team for 2010-11.

A 6’1” Winchester West Central senior, Tiffany King, was named IBS Illinois Small School Player of the Year. The McKendree signee averaged 21.2 ppg and 8.5 rpg in 2010-11. She scored over 2,000 career points at West Central, leading her team to the Illinois Class 1A State Championship as a senior.

“I have had the pleasure of following Tiffany’s career closely and she is a true example for the young girls coming up of how goals can be achieved through hard work and determination,” said Jason Speaks, Director of IBS. “McKendree has landed a big talent.”

The IBS Illinois Small School Newcomer of the Year was 5’6” Mt. Carmel (IL) frosh, Tyra Buss. In 2010-11, she averaged 32 ppg and set numerous records including a school single game scoring record of 52 points; breaking her own record set earlier this season of 49. Her 1,025 points this season was a school record as well as a state record for freshmen. Her 278 free throws and 137 steals this season were also school records. She led her team to a 27-5 record and the sectional final in her debut season. She has ever-increasing interest from several programs at the college level, including Minnesota, Notre Dame, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.

“Tyra was clearly the top newcomer and one of the state’s top prospects this season and exploded onto the state and national basketball scene with her play from her first game on,” said Speaks. “It is going to be exciting to follow her career and she has a very legitimate shot at becoming the top scorer in Illinois history.”

IBS NAMES ILLINOIS BOYS SMALL SCHOOL ALL STATE TEAM 03/15/11

Springfield, IL - - Illinois Basketball Services (IBS) has announced the 2011 IBS Small School All State Team, including the IBS Illinois Small School Player and Newcomer of the Year.

A 6’4” Chicago Hales Franciscan senior, Aaron Armstead, has been named the IBS Illinois Small School Player of the Year. A Wisconsin-Green Bay bound guard, Armstead averaged 17 ppg, 2.2 rpg and 3.7 apg in 2010-11 and helped lead his team to an Illinois 2A State Championship. “Hales has been a power at the small school level and Aaron is a big reason for their success in recent seasons,” said Jason Speaks, Director of IBS.

A 5’10” frosh, Martel Hunter of Monmouth-Roseville, was named IBS Illinois Small School Newcomer of the Year. He averaged 12 ppg, 5 rpg, 4 apg and 2 spg in a big first season at the high school level. “Coming into high school you could see that Martel was going to be a contributor playing some valuable minutes,” said Speaks. “He exceeded expectations and really stood out as not only a top frosh, but one of the top small school prospects in the state as well.”
