PREMIER SPRING SHOWCASE REPORT 05-04-08
Decatur, IL - - A total of 80 prospects participated in the 2nd Annual Premier Spring Showcase on recently at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois.The 2008 Spring Showcase MVP was ANTONIO REESE, a 6’1”, 190 lbs. post grad. REESE is a grad of Calumet (IL) who is currently attending Daley J.C. in Chicago, Illinois; after playing his frosh season at Wilbur Wright C.C. REESE is a hustling prospect who flies up and down the court with determination. He takes on a leadership role on whatever team he is placed on and handles the ball well, creates scoring opportunities and finishes well.
The Showcase 3-Point Champion was SCOTT TALOFF, a 6’5”, 187 lbs. 2009 from Burbank (IL) St. Laurence. SCOTT hit 13 threes in 45 seconds. Beyond his shooting ability, he has a good grasp of the game and is a team player. He also handles the ball well and should be recruited highly at the collegiate levels as a big guard.
Six other talented prospects were named to the 2008 All Spring Showcase Team.
DEMETRIO WADE, #64, is a 6’4”, 185 lbs. 2008 from Decatur (IL) Christian, whose homeland is Jamaica, West Indies. WADE was also a Premier High School All Star in 2007-08 and won the All Star Game Slam Dunk Contest. He can get off the floor and finish and is also a solid rebounder on both ends who on the defensive end also affects shots. He is physically strong and athletic with a good attitude. He is one of the top unsigned seniors in the state, who is drawing interest from several programs of all levels. His interest continues to soar at this late stage and he is deserving of all of the interest he receives.
KYLER WORKS, #74, is a 5’8, 140 lbs. 2007 from Decatur (IL) Eisenhower. He is another one of the talented guards out of one of the state’s best programs in recent seasons. He is quick with a good handle and can get to the basket for scores.
TYLER BONTEMPS, #5 is a 6’5”, 220 lbs. JC09 from Lincoln Land C.C. The Belleville (IL) East grad was also one of the top prospects in a previous Premier Showcase. TYLER is physically strong with a strong, muscle-filled frame. He can use his strength and athleticism to his advantage. His father played at Illinois and TYLER is capable of competing at the NCAA-DI level as well.
LUCAS SNIADY, # 54, is a 6’1”, 185 lbs. 2006 from Glenbrook (IL) South. Although he played for STEVE PRATTs Full Package AAU squad in high school, he is not playing for Coach PRATT at Oakton C.C., where he attends school now. LUCAS, however, is deserving of some attention as he could come in and make an impact at a college program. He was a qualifier out of high school. LUCAS is physically strong and plays hard at all times. He teamed with REESE to lead their team, blowing up and down the court and making their teammates play harder. LUCAS has good passing ability and can drive to the basket for a score or a pass off to an open teammate. He plays with a lot of intensity.
The 2007 Spring Showcase MVP, #50 KEN CARSON, JR. was again one of the top prospects in 2008. He is a 2002 grad of Decatur (IL) MacArthur. A late entry into the event, KEN is quick and speedy as well as physically strong. He can get down the length of the court and score quick.
TORRANCE SMITH, #55, is a 5’8”, 165 lbs. 2008 from Nicolet (WI). He is a playmaker. SMITH continues to get better, in the classroom and on the court. He can penetrate as well as shoot it.
The Showcase prospects also included:
#1 KAVIN ALLEN is a 2004 grad who is currently attending Daley J.C. The school currently does not have a program although there has been talk of adding one in the near future. KAVIN would be a solid candidate to lead the program from the guard spot. He can handle the ball well and has good guard skills.
#2 DAULTON BARNARD is a 6’, 138 lbs. 2011 from Waverly (IL). He has potential and is a fast guard who can shoot it. He should continue to improve.
#3 BRANDON BERRY is a 6’3”, 165 lbs. 2010 from Olney (IL) East Richland. BRANDON has a good shot from all areas.
#4 CHRISTIAN BONJEAN is a 5’9”, 160 lbs. 2009 from Franklin (IL). He is a fundamentally sound guard who has good court vision and looks to create for his teammates. He can shoot it from outside and has a good attitude as well. Some added muscle would help his game as well. He will lead his team in 2008-09.
#6 BRYLIN BROWN is a 6’1”, 170 lbs. 2008 from Homestead (WI). BROWN is an athletic guard who can get in the air for rebounds and finishes. He also has a good shot. BROWN has good court awareness and can get to the basket using his quickness and athleticism.
#7 ADRIAN CAVE is a 5’9”, 155 lbs. 2009 from Springfield (IL) Sacred Heart Griffin Academy. An all showcase team member in 2007, ADRIAN is speedy, quick and very athletic. He creates scoring opportunities and handles the ball well. He is one of the area’s top prospects and athletes.
#8 KENDALL COX is a 6’, 165 lbs. from Paxton-Buckley-Loda (IL). He is a fundamental guard with solid knowledge of the game. He can shoot it as well as find open teammates for scoring opportunities. Should he not be able to get an outside shot off, he can also drive to the hole for a score or pass off to a teammate.
#9 BLAIZE CUMBOW is a 6’1”, 155 lbs. 2008 from St. Joseph-Ogden (IL). He handles the ball well and is a good passer due to his court vision. He can contribute at the college level.
#10 KYLE CUMMINGS is a 5’11”, 170 lbs. 2007 from Lemont (IL). He is currently attending Illinois State and serving as the manager for their program. Continuing to be around highly competitive basketball has given him the urge to play at the collegiate level and he is very capable of doing so. He is looking for options and is sure to get some late looks. KYLE is quick and hustles at all times. The speedy guard plays good defense and passes well and makes good decisions on offense. He is coachable and has solid work ethic. He also is a good student.
#11 TAYLOR DENMAN is a 6’1”, 165 lbs. 2009 from Farmington (MO). He can shoot it as well as put it on the floor. He will only get better as well.
#12 LANCE DICKERSON is a 6’4”, 185 lbs. post grad from Springfield (IL) Lanphier. The 2005 grad played his frosh season at Illinois Valley C.C. He is currently working towards his associate’s degree and a 4-year opportunity. He continues to get stronger and is an athletic win prospect who can get inside for rebounds and plays good defense. He is a vocal leader who motivates his teammates as well.
#13 BRONSON DOTSON is a 5’11”, 218 lbs. 2008 from Decatur (IL) Christian. The stocky guard is physically strong with a solid frame. He hustles on the court and plays hard. He positions himself well for rebounds and is versatile.
#14 JOEY DUEWER is a 6’2”, 164 lbs. 2011 from Waverly (IL). He gets in good position for rebounds and is at his best inside. He will continue to improve and is one of Waverly’s talented underclass prospects that coaches are sure to hear about the next few seasons.
#15 ANDREW DUFFIELD is a 5’11”, 150 lbs. 2009 from Ohio (IL). He continues to improve and is athletic and a capable scorer.
#76 DILLON EIGHNER is a 5’5” 2011 from Hoopeston (IL). Looks can be deceiving and some may look at DILLONs size and think he will not be a challenge on the court, but they would all be wrong. DILLON is a tough guard who is not afraid to take it to the hole despite big guys patrolling the lane. He plays hard and handles the ball well from the point. He also can slide inside for occasional rebounds.
#16 BRIAN ENGSTROM is a 6’3” 2010 from Mahomet-Seymour (IL). He comes from a basketball family and it is clear that he has a solid grasp of the game. He makes good decisions and continues to improve.
#17 TYLER FARMER is a 6’3” 2009 from Armstrong (IL). He can shoot it as well as drive to the basket well. He also is a goof passer.
#18 DEVIN FRAILEY is a 6’5” 2009 from Altamont (IL). He is one of the area’s top prospects who will likely be recruited as a big guard at the college level. Another season under his belt will give him even more time to show what he can do. He can be relied on for scoring as well.
#19 MARKO GOVEDARICA is a 6’ 2009 from Glenbard North (IL). He is a talented student-athlete who has a good attitude and can make plays. He also is a good defender.
#20 ISAAC GRAPPERHAUS is a 6’5” 2009 from Farina (IL) South Central. He can get up in the air and is a good inside prospect. He rebounds well and has a nice shot inside.
#78 BRANDEL GRIGGS is a 6’3” JC09 from Spoon River J.C. BRANDEL has long arms which help him on defense and can shoot the ball well on offense. He continues to get better and is capable of playing at a highly competitive 4-year program.
#21 ZACHARY HAGAMAN is a 6’1” 2011 from Waverly (IL). He is yet another talented underclassman who will make some noise at Waverly in his career.
#22 JACOB HASSELBRING is a 6’3” 2008 from Watseka (IL). He defends well and also is a good rebounder. He is at his best inside.
#23 CALE HUISINGA is a 6’3” 2010 from Monticello (IL). As a frosh during the 2007 event, he was an all showcase team member. CALE will be a leader for Monticello and plays well inside.
#24 DEREK JACKSON is a 5’9” 2008 from Springfield (IL) Lutheran. He can shoot it. He also passes well with a good handle on the ball. When he cannot get a shot off outside, he can drive by his defender and get to the basket for a finish.
#25 TRAVIS JOHNSON is a 6’4” 2008 from Cerro Gordo (IL). He plays good defense, anticipating shots and affecting them. He also is a rebounder.
#26 TROY KLUNICK is a 5’11” 2010 from Springfield (IL). He is a talented shooter who can make plays as well. He can be a go-to player or a utility prospect, filling in what his team needs. He also has a good attitude.
#27 KEVIN KRAMER is a 6’6” 2009 from Hillsboro (MO). KEVIN has a good shot and should be receiving a lot of collegiate interest as a big guard.
#28 BRYAN KRAUSE is a 6’ 2009 from Farmington (MO). He handles the ball well and is fast. He also can get inside for rebounds.
#79 JIM KUBAN is a 5’10” JC09 from Illinois Central C.C. He is a smart player. When the ball goes through him, good things happen for his team. He has speed and good decision making ability.
#77 CURTIS LEISCHNER is a 6’2” senior from Monticello (IL). He is a slasher with a good shot and passing skills.
#29 STEPHON MARTINEZ is a 5’9” 2009 from North County (MO). He handles the ball well and is a good passer. He also has a good, consistent shot.
#30 KIEFFER MCCARON is a 6’ 2009 from Altamont (IL). He plays hard for his team. He can shoot it and also looks for his teammates for scores. He also is a good defender.
#31 JAQUAN MCGEE is a 6’2” 2008 from Joliet (IL). His best asset may be his defense. He creates on offense and is a versatile prospect.
#32 BEN MIKLAVCIC is a 6’4” 2009 from Spring Valley (IL) Hall. He is one of the area’s top prospects. He is a capable guard who can provide scoring if needed.
#33 LANCE MILLER is a 6’3” 2009 from Farmington (MO). He can shoot it and get rebounds inside if needed.
#34 LARK PALMER is a 5’8” post grad from Chicago Vocational. He played his frosh season in 2006-07 at Wilbur Wright J.C. He handles the ball very well and connects with teammates for scores with his above average court vision and passing ability. He is physically strong and a vocal leader. He also has a good attitude and can lead a team. He just needs a chance. He hustles at all times and is unselfish. He passes on shots to ensure that his teammates get scoring options.
#35 KRISTOPHER PARKER is a 6’5” 2004 from Indianapolis (IN) Pike. He did not play for Pike, but you could never tell due to his court awareness and knowledge of the game. He has had interest from several programs since graduating. He is athletic and can get up in the air for rebounds.
#36 GRANT PELLETIER is a 5’9” 2010 from New Berlin (IL). He has potential. He shoots well and can find open teammates for a score.
#37 NOLAN PETERSON is a 5’9” 2010 from Galva (IL). He handles the ball well and can hit the open man.
#38 DARREN PRICE is a 6’1” 2010 from Springfield (IL) Calvary. He is one of the area’s top prospects and will be highly recruited at the college levels. He can score, rebound, defend and create for others.
#39 MATT PURDOM is a 6’5” 2009 from Elmhurst (IL) Immaculate Conception. He is pushing 6’6” and is a solid inside threat. He showed his abilities and what he is capable of doing in 2007-08 and will be the focus of all opposing teams in 2008-09.
#40 LUKE RADLIFF is a 6’5” 2009 from Mahomet-Seymour (IL) who is a consistent prospect with scoring and rebounding ability.
#41 MICHAEL RANDICK is a 5’7” 2010 from Elmhurst (IL) Immaculate Conception. He plays solid defense and should continue to improve.
#42 RICHARD RANDICK is a 5’8” 2005 that is currently attending Illinois Benedictine. He is an experienced and talented shooter who can defend well.
#44 BRANDON ROBERTS is a 6’6” 2008 from St. Louis (MO) University City. He is at his best inside, but has some versatility. He rebounds well and affects shots on defense.
#45 LAWRENCE ROBERTS is a 6’3” 2007 from Sumner (MO). He can shoot it and is capable of coming in and being productive at the collegiate level.
#46 ZACH ROBERTS is a 6’2” 2009 from Deland-Weldon (IL). He plays within his team and is also capable of taking a leadership role. He works hard on the floor and is coachable.
#47 WILL RUDOLPHI is a 6’3” 2010 from Champaign (IL) St. Thomas More. WILL is active and a good defender. He can handle the ball well and rebound.
#48 TAUGE RUX is a 5’10” 2010 from Galva (IL). RUX can defend. His offensive game should also continue to progress.
#49 RAHEEM SALLEE is a 6’ 2008 from Urbana (IL). He passes well and defends.
#75 TANNER SCHULTZ is a 6’ 2011 from Williamsville (IL). He has a great attitude and plays hard. He moves well without the ball and defends well. He continues to get stronger and can shoot it. He is a hard worker and with added quickness will be getting some collegiate looks soon.
#52 ANDY SHIMKUS is a 6’ 2008 from Springfield (IL) Lutheran. He has a good attitude and is a capable scorer. He would make a good addition to a college program in 2008-09.
#53 IAN SIMMONS is a 6’2” JC09 from Prairie State J.C. He is a physically strong guard who hustles and can shoot well.
#56 GREG SPERRY is a 6’8” 2009 from Altamont (IL). He has good size and finishes inside. He also affects shots and patrols the lane well on defense. He has a good shooting touch inside as well.
#57 MICHAEL STOUFFE is a 6’4” 2011 from Waverly (IL). He continues to improve and get bigger and better. He is best inside, can rebound and use his body well.
#58 BRIAN SUCKOW is a 6’4” 2010 from Altamont (IL). He will continue to get better and should progress into one of Altamont’s key contributors. He plays well within the team and moves well.
#59 PAUL SWANSON is a 6’2” 2009 from Ohio (IL). He penetrates well and plays good defense on the other end of the court. He also can rebound.
#61 MELVIN TATE is a 6’2” 2008 from Decatur (IL) Christian. He can defend and uses his athleticism to his advantage. His jumps shot is coming around and he can drive it inside for a score too.
#63 JACOB VERSTRAETE is a 6’3” 2010 from Galva (IL). He plays well inside and has a solid understanding of the game.
#64 ADAM WAKEFIELD is a 6’1” 2009 from Champaign (IL) St. Thomas More. He is unselfish and creates for others.
#66 MALCOLM WALKER is a 5’11” 2008 from Decatur (IL) Christian. He is a lockdown defender and on offense can control the tempo and has good ball handling skills. He also passes and distributes the ball well.
#67 JOSHUA WALTON is a 5’11” 2009 from Springfield (IL) Sacred Heart Griffin Academy. He should progress into a very talented prospect. He has a good shot and court vision that allows him to find holes in the defense for penetrating or passing for a score. He will only get better.
#68 WYATT WASHBURN is a 6’ 2010 from Maroa-Forsyth (IL). WYATT is a good shooter who handles the ball well and can get assists.
#69 CASS WESSEL is a 6’1” 2010 from AC Central (IL) who can shoot and pass well. He is a penetrator with a good attitude and is coachable.
#70 NATHAN WILLARD is a 6’ 2010 from Mahomet-Seymour (IL). He can shoot and makes good decisions. He also is a good passing guard.
#71 CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS is a 6’7” 2005 from Chicago Vocational who is currently attending Daley J.C. The only thing slowing him down is his added weight. After some conditioning, he could be a force. He has good size, is vocal and affects shots on defense. He finishes inside and can shoot it from the perimeter at times. He is an aggressive forward.
#72 CORNELIUS WISE is a 6’3” 2008 from Covenant Christian Ministries Academy (GA). He is a talented and athletic outside shooter who handles the ball well and makes good decisions. He is also a respectful and honest prospect who is very coachable with a good attitude. He can help a college program in 2008-09. He has played against some high quality competition.
#73 STEPHEN HOTT is a 6’3” 2009 from Springfield (IL) Sacred Heart Griffin Academy. He plays well inside and out and is athletic and can get to the rim. He plays aggressive and is a tough, hard-nosed prospect who has no fear. He is one of the area’s top prospects and was an All Showcase selection in 2007.
#80 NATHAN SWARTS is a 6’6” 2008 from Monticello (IL). He is a physically strong and skilled prospect with a solid understanding of the game. He has interest from several collegiate programs and is deserving of even more.
#51 ISAIAH BROWN is a 6’3” 2010 from Springfield (IL). He is consistent and a good shooter. He will continue to improve.
The next showcase for Premier is the 4th Annual Premier National Summer Showcase, an NCAA Certified event, to be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at The Gym of Springfield, Illinois.
PREMIER GIRLS SPRING SHOWCASE RECAP- 04-20-08
The 2nd Annual Premier Spring Showcase was held on Sunday at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. About 70 prospects from Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin participated in the annual NCAA Certified event that is presented by Illinois Basketball Services (IBS) and the Gym of Springfield, Illinois.
As with all Premier events, all of the participants were class athletes who played hard and showed their abilities to the maximum extent; going hard at all times.The Showcase MVP was 6’1” Moberly Area C.C. frosh D’NAYA MIMS. She will return to Moberly Area C.C. in 2008-09. She has a nice inside game and is active. She plays tough and aggressive and gets into good position for rebounds. She affects shots on defense and on offense has success with her high arching shot. She should receive some quality 4-year offers.
The Showcase Three Point Champion was 5’8” Gibson Coty-Melvin-Sibley (IL) junior, SIDNEY OVERMAN. She showed her shooting ability in the three point contest as well as in the games she played. She not only can put it up, but also on the floor. She has a good understanding of the game and can score when needed, but also finds teammates to create scoring opportunities for them. Her averages, which were respectable in 2007-08 should improve even further in 2008-09.The All Showcase Team included MEGAN BERGERUD, a 5’9” soph from Virginia (IL) AC Central. She will be one of the top prospects in the area throughout her high school career. She has a good handle on the ball and is quick to the basket. She has a lot of quality guard skills which include floor leadership and court vision which allows her to create scoring opportunities for others as well as herself. She did not get rattled when pressured by other talented prospects in the event.
BRITTANY NOEL, a 5’10” frosh from Moberly Area C.C. was an all showcase team selection. She is a talented ball handler who has good passing skills as well. Another season at the JUCO level should give her plenty of time to get some major collegiate interest.LATASHIA PRATT, is a 5’6” Moberly Area C.C. soph PG. She can shoot the ball well and also has good passing skills. She protects the ball and has a solid handle. She also hustles at all times on the floor and has a great attitude. She would make an excellent addition to any 4-year program and is deserving of many options.
DANIELLE ROE, is a 5’10” Sinclair C.C. soph. One of the top prospects overall in the event, she showed all of her playmaking abilities. ROE has great court vision and makes the difficult pass look simple and can find a lane to the basket when a score is needed. She is athletic and makes good decisions.
All Showcase member CAMILLIA CALIPH is a 5’5” frosh from Illinois Valley C.C. who has transferred to Rock Valley C.C. She plays well in the open court and is a creator. Her passing was displayed at the event and she always plays with intensity. She can play lockdown defense as well. Her leadership and hard work will be an asset to Rock Valley.
The 2008 Spring Showcase participants included:
#1 LINDSEY ANDERSON, a 5’9” junior from Olathe (KS) North. LINDSEY is a solid defender who also positions herself well to get into place for rebounds.
#3 ASHLEY BALSTER is a 5’8” frosh from Petersburg (IL) PORTA. She is the latest talented member of the BALSTER family to come through the PORTA program. ASHLEY runs the point well and displayed goo decision-making ability and fundamental ball handling. She has potential to be a standout in the area.
#4 KIMYATTA BARKSDALE is a 5’10” frosh from Moberly Area C.C. One of the talented JUCO prospects in attendance, KIMMY plays the guard positions efficiently and can contribute for most collegiate programs.
#8 JONI BURKE is a 5’8” junior from Beecher City (IL). The wiry guard should continue to mature as a player and added muscle will help her improve as well. She moves well without the ball and looks to create for others. Her best asset at this point is her defense.
#10 SARAH BUTLER is a 5’7” frosh from Colfax (IL) Ridgeview. She is a talented guard who can shoot well and also finds open teammates well.
#11 YESSENIA CABADAS is a long and athletic 5’10” senior guard from Aurora (IL) East. She is a full qualifier who like her teammate at the event, is worthy of receiving more late collegiate options. She has a good attitude and is coachable and can fit in to most programs.#12 KEOSHA CAMPBELL is a 5’8” frosh from Rock Valley C.C. She is a fundamental prospect who shoots it well and can rebound. She also does the little things that coaches love.
#13 ELYSE CHRISTOFANNELL is a 5’4” frosh from Petersburg (IL) PORTA. The speedy guard will continue to progress as her career continues. She is quick on defense and works hard when she is on the floor. He offensive game is also coming around nicely.#14 SIMONE DANIELLE COBURN is a 6’ frosh from Rock Valley C.C. She rebounds well and had a good inside game for Rock Valley to count on. She finishes well.
#15 JORDAN CONNELLY is a 5’7” soph at Robinson (IL). She is one of the area’s top underclass prospects who can score and will continue to see her offense improve as her career progresses. She is a prospect to watch in the underclass.
#16 NICKOLENA COOP is a 5’6” frosh at Downs (IL) Tri-Valley. She is a competitor who stepped in and was productive right away at Tri-Valley. The event was no different as she showed her hard working style of play and a nice touch on her shot. She should continue to grow and get stronger physically and as a player.
#17 KANDACE CROSS is a 5’8” frosh from Moberly Area C.C. She has a good shot and court vision. She handles the ball well and finds open cutters for scores. She will see some good 4-year program interest as the months go by and word gets out about her.
#18 MORGAN DAVIS is a 5’5” soph at Sinclair C.C. She has speed and plays good defense. She also makes good decisions when passing and shooting.
#19 SARAH DUESTERHAUS is a 5’3” soph from Tolono (IL) Unity. She has a good handle and shows leadership qualities for an underclassman. She finds the open teammate effectively with her passing skills as well.
#72 CASSIE ENDICOTT is a 6’ frosh from Bethalto (IL) Civic Memorial. She is long and has a nice shooting touch. She can affect shots down low and with some additional muscle can create even more of a problem for inside threats. She will continue to develop into one of the state’s top prospects.
#21 JULIE ESTAY is a 5’3” junior from Milford (IL) with a good attitude and nice shot. She also is a talented defender.
#22 KRISTIN ESTAY is a 5’9” frosh from Danville Area C.C. whose strength is her penetration ability. She can go left or right and get to the basket for a score or pass off to an open teammate.
#24 RENIECE GOODMAN is a 5’9” frosh at Rock Valley C.C. She is one of Rock Valley’s better defenders and also has some good offensive capabilities.
#26 ALISHA GUFFEY is a 5’6” senior from Springfield (IL) Lanphier. She is talented in the classroom and on the court. She can shoot it and is a strong guard.
#27 KAYLA GUYNN is a 5’8” soph from Bradley-Bourbonnais (IL). She is a shooter who also has athleticism that will help her at the collegiate level. She displayed her pull up jumper at the event.
#30 AERIAL HAWKEY is a 5’9” multi-talented frosh at Lake Land C.C. She likely will head to Blackburn in 2008-09. She comes from a strong high school program and a season of JUCO ball under her belt has benefited her well. She has good court awareness and is smart with the ball. She is tough and a fundamental guard.
#31 CHEYENNE HEDRINGTON is a 5’10” 8th grader from Champaign (IL) Franklin who will likely attend Champaign (IL) Centennial for high school. She has a lot of potential and you would think she was a frosh or soph at the event. She has a strong game, plays tough and knows the game.
#32 AUTUMN HEFLIN is a 5’9” soph from Sinclair C.C. She is a talented passer with rebounds well at the guard spot and also plays solid defense. She was one of the top JUCO prospects in attendance.
#34 KAYLIE JONES is a 5’7” junior from Bethalto (IL) Civic Memorial. She is likely to become the program’s leader in 2008-09 and had a solid showing at the event. She is a good on the ball defender and on offense, handles the ball well. She can take her defender off the dribble for a penetration score or dish to an open teammate. She is likely to be one of the area’s top prospects as a senior next season.
#36 ASHLEY KING is a 5’7” junior from Waverly (IL) who is a good prospect on the court and in the classroom. She plays well at the guard position and can also get inside for rebounds. ASHLEY can also defend well.
#38 ANDREA KNIGHT is a 5’10” junior from Moweaqua (IL) Central A&M. She should be one of the area’s standouts in 2008-09. She gets in good rebounding position and is a fundamental prospect.
#40 ASHLEY MCKAY is a 5’4” junior from Milford (IL). She can shoot the ball well and plays the guard positions efficiently. She can also get inside for rebounds.
#43 CARLY NANCE is a 5’7” soph from Sinclair C.C. She can hit the outside shot as well as play good defense.
#46 PAIGE NORD is a 5’6” frosh from Colfax (IL) Ridgeview. She is a hustling guard who knows how to find the open cutter and handles the ball well. She makes good decisions and will only get better.
#49 BRITTNEY PORTER is a 5’6” frosh from Rock Valley C.C. PORTER is a good shooter for Rock Valley and also a good defender.
#53 SHELBY ROTH is a 5’7” soph from Oakfield (WI). She plays good defense and has a nice shot. She makes good decisions with the ball and can also get to the hole for scores. She should continue to develop her all around game.
#69 SAMANTHA SCHAPPAUGH is a 5’8” soph from Petersburg (IL) PORTA who has a good understanding of the game. She has a good attitude and a nice shot.
#54 AHNA SCHOENHOFF is a 5’10” junior from Columbia (IL). She can create scoring opportunities and is a good rebounder.
#55 NYKI SCHULTZ is a 6’ junior from Bradley-Bourbonnais (IL). She has good size and plays tough. She also has good athleticism that will benefit her at the collegiate level.
#56 ERIKA SCHWARTZ is a 5’8” frosh from Lake Land C.C. She is a good shooter inside and out and can handle the ball well. She plays well with her teammates.
#57 ELIZABETH SHANK is a 5’11” soph from Sinclair C.C. She was another talented and experienced JUCO prospect that played well in the event. She is a good defender with good court awareness and is capable of leading a team.
#70 BRITTANY SIMPSON is a 5’11” senior from Villa Grove (IL) who can play multiple positions and has a good attitude coupled with a solid work ethic. She is capable of contributing at various collegiate levels.
#25 KEIRSTYN SPANGLER is a 5’11” frosh from Decatur (IL) Christian. She is smart with the ball and is a good shooter with a lot of potential.
#58 TAMIKA TAYLOR is a 5’8” senior from Queen of Peace (IL) who handles the ball well and has a good shot inside and out. She hustles every play and is quick.
#60 JESSICA WATTS is a 5’11” soph from Omaha (NE) Millard North. She played all weekend in a couple events and showed no signs of being tired as she showed off her game. She is athletic with speed and quick on defense. She has versatility and creates scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates.
#62 SAMANTHA WELLS is a 5’2” frosh from Avon (IL). She plays team basketball and should continue to improve as her career progresses. She passes well and is a good defender.
#63 ALISON WHALEN is a 5’6” junior from Waverly (IL). She is a talented small school prospect who is a good defender and shooter from outside.
#65 BRIDGIT WILKEN is a 5’6” junior from Milford (IL) who rebounds well and should see her offensive game improve with work over the summer.
#67 KAYLEE WILLIS is a 5’6” junior from Eastern Hancock (IN). She can shoot as well as defend.
#00 SARAH PETERSON is a 6’ junior from Gibson City (IL) who has good size and a god attitude. She knows the game and lets the game come to her and does not try to create things that are not there. She is best inside where she takes good shots and has good passing ability as well.

Springfield, IL - -The 2nd Annual Green Family Stores Premier High School All Star Game was held on Sunday at Springfield (IL) Lanphier. Forty of the top senior high school boys and girls from within a 50-mile radius of Springfield, Illinois competed in the event.
Premier is a partnership between Illinois Basketball Services (IBS) and the Gym of Springfield.
The girls tipped off first with Black Team getting a 67-55 win over the Gold Team with Springfield (IL) Lanphier’s NISHIEKAH SHEPARD scoring a team best 16 points and pulling down 5 boards. Taylorville’s (IL) CECILY ALDRIDGE, who led the conference in scoring in 2007-08, added 12 points while Springfield (IL) Sacred Heart Griffin Academy’s CRISTINA NEVINS contributed 11 points.For the Gold, Springfield (IL) Southeast’s DEMETRIAS SENOR scored 13 points. Rochester’s (IL) ASHLEY MERSCHMAN added 10 points.
The Three Point Contest was won by Lincoln’s (IL) CHRISSY SCHONAUER. She defeated Chatham (IL) Glenwood’s Missouri-St. Louis bound CAITLYN MOODY.Williamsville’s (IL) BROOKE BACHMANN was in attendance but was unable to participate due to injury.
In the boys game, the Gold got a 126-120 win over the Black. Gold were led by Springfield (IL) forward DEANDDRIS BARBOURs 26 points and 4 rebounds. Springfield (IL) Southeast’s TONY JONES scored 24 points and grabbed 7 boards. Warrensburg-Latham (IL) guard ZACK BOYD added 22 points and 8 boards.In the loss, the Black were led by Jamaican DEMETRIO WADE of Decatur (IL) Christian with his 20 points and 11 boards. WADE also was the winner of the Slam Dunk Contest, defeating Pawnee (IL) guard Cedarville bound DANIEL KOHAVI. Mt. Pulaski’s (IL) PAUL FOLEY added 18 points. KOHAVI had 16 points. Girard’s (IL) NICK SLOMAN chipped in 13 points and Springfield (IL) Lanphier’s JO-PAUL JONES and Riverton’s (IL) JUSTIN KOGER each tallied 10 points.
The Three Point Contest was won by Rochester (IL) senior TAYLOR JONES, who netted 10 of 12 threes; defeating Chatham (IL) Glenwood’s JOSH RUFFATTO who hit 9 of 12.
Petersburg (IL) PORTA's Eastern Illinois football recruit, KEAGAN ROBINSON was unable to attend due to a team banquet. Decatur (IL) MacArthur's STEFON CARSON did not show for the event.

IBS NAMES ALL STATE TEAM FOR ILLINOIS BOYS 03-07-08
Springfield, IL - - Illinois Basketball Services (IBS) recently named its Illinois All State Team for 2007-08.
The IBS Illinois Small School Player of the Year honor was shared by 6’2” Warrensburg-Latham senior ZACK BOYD and 6’6” Pinckneyville senior KYLE CASSITY. Both are uncommitted seniors. BOYD averaged 23.5 ppg and 5.6 rpg in 2007-08. In his career, he has garnered interest from programs such as Evansville, Indiana State, Missouri State, South Dakota State and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. CASSITY averaged 19.1 ppg and 8.2 rpg and has interest from programs such as Arkansas State, Evansville, Hawaii, Illinois-Springfield, Michigan, Missouri-Kansas City, Penn State, Saint Louis, Southern Illinois, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Southern Indiana.
BOYD led his team to a 31-1 regular season finish, the best regular season finish in decades, and is the latest in a long line of talented prospects to come out of the Warrensburg-Latham program. He also is the all time leading scorer for the program. “ZACK embraced the leadership role for his team this season and was the all around leader for the very talented team,” said Jason Speaks, Director of IBS. “His scoring, attitude and grasp of the game will make some college coach very happy in the next four years.”CASSITY, regardless of class, is one of the state’s top prospects. He powered the storied Pinckneyville program to a 28-4 record. “Some may consider KYLE a hidden gem, but he really made some noise this season,” said Speaks. “He is capable of succeeding at any college level.”
The IBS Newcomer of the Year was 6’6”, 235 lbs. El Paso-Gridley frosh CODEY FUNK. The freshman had a solid season, which included a strong performance against NCAA-DI target Jordan Prosser, an all state selection from Eureka.
The IBS Illinois Large School Player of the Year honor was shared by 6’ Homewood-Flossmoor senior Kevin Dillard, Jr. and 5’9” Decatur Eisenhower Senior Lewis Jackson. A Southern Illinois signee, Dillard led his team to a 25-1 record in 2007-08, averaging 25 ppg, 5 apg and 5 spg. He was named MVP of the prestigious Proviso West Holiday Tournament. Jackson, a Purdue signee, averaged 20 ppg, 5 rpg, 8 apg and 3 spg in 2007-08 in leading his team to a perfect regular season and an overall record of 28-1.
The IBS Large School Newcomer of the Year was 6’ Bartonville Limestone frosh Donivine Stewart, who averaged about 24.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 4.7 apg and 2.5 spg in 2007-08. Stewart had highs of 45, 38 and 36 points in games this season. He already has picked up a scholarship offer from Illinois and has interest from several other major programs such as Louisville, North Carolina, Ohio State, Southern California and Wisconsin.

Springfield, IL- Illinois Basketball Services (IBS) recently named its Illinois All State Team for 2007-08, including the State Players and Newcomers of the Year.
Pana’s Olivia Lett was named 2008 IBS Illinois Small School Player of the Year. Lett, a Southern Illinois bound 6’ senior guard, averaged about 22 ppg in 2007-08. She also is Pana’s all time leading scorer with 2,439 career points. She was an IBS All State Selection last season when she averaged over 20 ppg.“Olivia is a big guard with a solid understanding of the game,” said Jason Speaks, Director of IBS. “She dedicates herself to working hard and leading her team and it shows through with her high scoring and the much-deserved accolades she has received.”
The IBS Illinois Small School Co-Newcomers of the Year were 5’10” DeLand-Weldon freshman Brielle Jones and 5’6” Wolf Lake Shawnee freshman Ana Duda. Jones impressed many in 2007-08 with her shot blocking ability, which included a single season state record 234 blocked shots as well a state single game blocked shots record of 21. She finished the season averaging 10 bpg, to go along with 8.6 ppg, 12.8 rpg, 1.5 apg and 2.4 spg. Jones finished 32 points shy of averaging a triple double.Duda was one of the top prospects in the region as a frosh in 2007-08 and was among the top tier in scoring while drawing double teams at times from area opponents. She finished the season with about a 17 ppg average.
The IBS Illinois Large School Player of the Year honor was shared by 6’5” Gurnee Warren senior Sarah Boothe and 6’2” East St. Louis senior TeAndrea Smith. Boothe, headed to Stanford, averaged 20.5 ppg in 2007-08 and has had an impressive career that has amounted to 2,038 points and 1,079 rebounds. Smith, headed to Illinois, filled the stat sheet each game in 2007-08 and averaged 17.6 ppg and 17.1 rpg to go along with 4.3 apg, 3.2 spg and 4.5 bpg.
An intimidating inside presence, Boothe, has been a starter and contributor for Warren since her freshman season and has maintained solid academics throughout her high school career. “Sarah Boothe is a model student-athlete,” said Jason Speaks, Director of IBS. “She has excelled in the classroom and on the court during her high school career and will likely do just that at Stanford University.” In addition to 6’5” Boothe, Stanford will have two 6’4” forwards in 2008-09.
Smith did everything for East St. Louis in 2007-08, which finished the season one win shy of 20 wins (19-9). Her highlights this season included pulling down 23 rebounds in a single game. “TeAndrea put on a show this season,” said Speaks. “Illinois fans should be thrilled that they get to see her play in the state for four more basketball seasons.”The IBS Illinois Large School Newcomer of the Year was 5’7” Bolingbrook frosh, Ariel Massengale, who led her team to another state tourney berth with 13.2 ppg. “Ariel stepped up as a freshman and led one of the state’s best high school programs,” said Speaks. “She is a big time talent that is the latest Bolingbrook standout to lead the quality program to success.”

PREMIER GIRLS PREP CLASSIC RECAP – 12-2-07
Springfield, IL --The Premier Girls Prep Classic, hosted by IBS and The Gym, took place on Saturday at Lincoln Land C.C. in Springfield, Illinois; despite poor conditions on the roads throughout the Midwest. College coaches in attendance included Saint Louis assistant STEPHANIE RICH, Purdue assistant JODY BENNER, MacMurray head coach ERIC JENSEN and staff from Lincoln Land C.C.
A total of 13 NCAA-DI signees were on the floor throughout the day and several future collegiate signees also participated. Most participating schools are state ranked.
Showcase games included:
Game #1: Virden (IL) vs. Niantic (IL) Sangamon Valley (IL)The game was postponed due to a team decision. The game will be played at a later date. A 6’ senior for Virden, BRIANNE COX, was expected to break the all time scoring record for Virden in this game. She needs only 14 points to do so, which is below her average. COX is still uncommitted and seeking further interest.
Game #2: Bolingbrook (IL) vs. St. Louis (MO) Incarnate Word AcademyIncarnate Word came out with all guns blazing on Saturday and got a surprising 20-point (56-36) win over Bolingbrook, the 2nd place finisher in 2006-07. Word led 26-8 at the end of the first half. Arkansas-Little Rock bound BRITTENI WILLIAMS scored 13 points in the win. JAZMIN HITCHENS added 10 points and 8 boards. Bolingbrook was led by Temple bound MIRANDA TATE and her 15 points.
Game #3: Rochester (IL) vs. Bethalto (IL) Civic MemorialLast season’s second place finisher in Illinois Class A, Rochester got a win over the bigger Bethalto (IL) Civic Memorial, 42-35. BETH WALLBAUM had 18 points in the win. Illinois State bound KATIE BROADWAY had 1 point below her average, finishing with 25 points in the loss.
Game #4: Edwardsville (IL) vs. Lombard (IL) Montini Edwardsville got a 51-39 win over Montini in Game 4 with 18 points and 7 boards coming out of Wisconsin bound ANYA COVINGTON. WHITNEY HOLLOWAY had 11 points in the loss.
Game #5: Buffalo (IL) Grove vs. Milwaukee (WI) VincentIn the finale, Buffalo Grove, #1 in Illinois went up against Wisconsin #1, Vincent. Buffalo Grove came in 7-0 and it was the first game of the season for Vincent, who went all last season without a loss and grabbed a state title with head coach MARQUIS HINES earning coach of the year honors.
Buffalo Grove got out with the win, 54-40. ELLEN AYOUB, a Loyola-Chicago signee, had 18 points and 9 boards in the win. Northwestern bound MAGGIE MOCCHI added 16 points, 7 boards. TERI STAMPS, a Florida Atlantic recruit, scored a team high 14 points for Vincent.
The Classic will take place again next season in Springfield, Illinois.
