Champaign Centennial over Springfield Lanphier, 63-56. A 6'8" senior and Eastern Kentucky signee, JEFF JOHNSON, named Player of the Game. He had 16 points and 9 boards. In the loss, KARL MADISON, a Drake signee, totaled 29 points...

Sporting an Illinois sweatshirt, LARRY AUSTIN JR. of Springfield (IL) Grant Junior High in attendance. Illinois and Purdue have been in to see him this season and more are expected...

Champaign Centennial leads Springfield Lanphier 25-24 at the half. JEREME RICHMOND, Illinois signee, and his Waukegan program have arrived...

5:30 p.m.:
Peoria Notre Dame wins in OT, 69-61 over Chicago Leo. A6'8" junior, MAX BIELDFELDT, leads the way being named Player of the Game. He had 31 points and 16 boards; the best performance so far in the Shootout. Eastern Illinois bound ISAAC SMITH netted 18 points in the loss...

5:18 p.m.:
Overtime is underway for Chicago Leo and Peoria Notre Dame. 55-55...

Drake bound KARL MADISON of Springfield (IL) Lanphier tells me he is looking forward to guarding his future college teammmate, RAYVONTE RICE, the leader at Champaign (IL) Centennial. With 17 ticks left in game 3, Limestone leads SHG 50-55...

Bartonville (IL) Limestone over Springfield (IL) Sacred Heart Griffin Academy, 30-27, at the half...

Brehm gets by New Creations 67-60. A 6'5" junior, BRUCE BARRON leads the way taking Player of the Game honors. Game 3 to start in under 10 minutes...

1:30 p.m.:
Brehm staff inform me that JAMES "BAMBA" SIAKAM is recovering well from the facial surgery. He suffered 6 broken bones in the face during a previous game. He went for a loose ball and hit his face on a knee. He did go on to play the remainder of the game, and played well, despite not knowing the extent of his injuries...

1:12 p.m.:
Brehm leads New Creations at the half; 28-26...

12:20 P.M.:
Rich South gets the 55-36 win over Bloomington in game 1. A 6'2" junior, MACARI BROOKS leads the way with 11 points, 7 boards. He was named Player of the Game. TYRONE ALLEN added 13 points; leading in scoring. For Bloomington, 6'3" senior JAMES WIMP had 12 points and 6 boards.

Next up, Carbondale (IL) Brehm Prep matches up against Richmond (IN) New Creations Academy. The two have played already this season, ending in an unfortunate altercation. No bad blood now between the two and looking forward to a great game. Several major prospects on the floor now...

Springfield, IL - - The annual Athleticare Sports Radio 1450 Shootout, presented in-part by Illinois Basketball Services (IBS), is scheduled for Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois. Rich South is the school of Illinois commit CRANDALL HEAD, a 6’5” senior who is the younger brother of former Illinois guard and current NBA guard LUTHER HEAD. CRANDALL tore his ACL during a tournament in the summer and has been sidelined since his September, 2009 surgery to repair the tear… MACARI BROOKS is a 6’2” junior with scholarship offers from DePaul and Northern Illinois and strong interest from Louisville among others…

Carbondale Brehm Prep Academy
plays a strong schedule of games that include mostly prep schools and junior colleges. The program is led in part by 6’9” Nigerian sophomore EMMANUEL OCHENJE. The 2008-09 IBS Illinois Newcomer of the Year, OCHENJE is seeing his interest from major collegiate programs rapidly increase and he has serious interest from Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana State, Memphis, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Purdue, Southern Illinois and Wake Forest. MIKE LIABO is signed with North Carolina-Greensboro…


Brehm is also led by 6’7”, 210 lbs. senior JAMES “BAMBA” SIAKAM (sidelined with facial fractures) of Cameroon who is described by his coach as a prospect that can do it all. He averaged 25.6 ppg and 11.3 rpg in 2008-09 and has scholarship offers from Southern Illinois and Vanderbilt with interest from several college programs including Arizona, DePaul, Harvard, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska and Purdue….


The 6’6” junior DRE HENLEY is another contributor for Brehm and he has offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Marquette and Southern Illinois…A 6’4”, 220 lbs. junior point guard, BRUCE BARRON, has scholarship offers from Citadel, Missouri State, Nevada, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin with other interest from programs such as Arkansas, Dayton, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Memphis, Northern Illinois, Notre Dame, Ohio, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Virginia. The program went 64-10 over the summer as the Illinois Titans in the AAU circuit, regularly winning national travel tourneys.


Richmond (IN) New Creations Christian Academy
plays a strong schedule of games that include mostly prep schools and junior colleges. The program is led by a number of talented prospects from throughout the country, including 6’9” DePaul bound forward WALTER PITCHFORD. He also played for Oak Hill Academy (VA) prior to New Creations. The 6’5” DOMINIQUE REED, a 5th-year senior, is an Olympic hopeful in the high jump. The 6’7” LIBAN HASSAN, a 5th year senior, is a native of Toronto, Canada with interest from programs such as Buffalo, Central Connecticut and Iona. A 6’3” 5th year senior, HAYDEN ANNET is a new addition to the program from Australia…

Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin (SHG )Academy is coached by JOHN ANGELO, in his first season as head coach. He was promoted from assistant and is a former head coach at Springfield Lanphier. SHG is led by 6’ senior MAX REAVY….


Bartonville Limestone is led by 5’11” junior DONIVINE STEWART, one of the state’s top talents. He has over 1,300 career points and has scored as mich as 45 points in a single game. One of the state’s top scorers, he has averaged 23.3 ppg so far in his career, has scholarship offers from Bradley, Illinois and West Virginia and ever-increasing collegiate interest from programs such as Arizona, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisiana State, Louisville, North Carolina, Ohio State, Southern California, Virginia, and Wisconsin....

Chicago Leo
Peoria (IL) Notre Dame


Chicago Leo
competes in the tough Chicago Catholic League and finished 4th in Illinois 3A in 2008-09. They are now in 2A and a favorite to take a state title this season. Leaders for Leo include 5’10” senior MALCOLM MCFARLAND and 6’3” Eastern Illinois bound senior ISAAC SMITH, III, the team captain….


Peoria Notre Dame
is in the Mid-State Six Conference and is led by 6’78”, 240 lbs. junior MAX BIELFELDT, an honorable mention all stater who has collegiate interest from programs such as Albany, Ball Sate, Bradley, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Oakland, Princeton, Xavier, Western Illinois, Western Michigan and Wichita State. He is considered the top prospect to play for Notre Dame since BRIAN RANDLE, who went on to Illinois and an overseas professional career. MAX is the grandson of GARY and CARLOTTA BIELFELDT, philanthropists who have donated millions of dollars to Central Illinois charities and projects, including the University of Illinois’ Athletic Administration Building which is called the BIELFELDT building. Notre Dame also has help inside from 6’7” junior DREW BLUMENSHINE; a transfer from Washington (IL). NICK ROCHFORD, a 6’ senior, directs the offense for Notre Dame and has interest from programs such as Iowa, Marquette, Northwestern, Southern Illinois, Valparaiso, Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Parkside. He averaged 7.1 ppg and 4.3 apg in 2008-09. TYLER LES is a 6’2”, 170 lbs. senior outside threat who is the son of Bradley Head Coach JIM LES

Champaign Centennial
went 32-1 last season and won the Illinois 3A state title. The program is led by 6’3” Drake bound senior RAYVONTE RICE. Centennial also is led by 6’8” Eastern Kentucky bound senior JEFF JOHNSON, who averaged 13.2 ppg and 7.2 rpg in 2008-09. ..


Springfield Lanphier
is led by one of the state’s top prospects in 5’11” senior guard KARL MADISON, who has signed with Drake. In 2008-09, he averaged 21.9 ppg, 5 rpg, and 3.7 apg and academically he is on the top in his class.

Peoria Central
is led by 5’11” soph PG ANTONIO “BOBO” DRUMMOND who was the 2008-09 IBS Illinois Newcomer of the Year; averaging 11.2 ppg, 3 rpg, 3.4 apg, and 1.8 spg. He has a scholarship offer from Illinois and interest from many programs including Bradley, California-Los Angeles, DePaul, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Marquette, North Carolina State, Northern Illinois, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Southern Illinois, Texas, Wake Forest and Wisconsin…DWAYNE “TONY” BANKS, JR. is a 6’2” senior who is another team leader. He has interest from Drake, Illinois Valley C.C., Loyola-Chicago, Missouri Southern and Southwest Minnesota.


Bolingbrook
is led by, among others, 6’3” senior ANTIONE COX who has a scholarship offer from Eastern Illinois and interest from programs such as Detroit, Eastern Illinois, Loyola-Chicago, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa and Western Illinois. The 6’7” DEVON HODGES, is a junior transfer from Romeoville (IL) who has committed to Wisconsin…


The game is a rematch of the title game of the Decatur (IL) Turkey Tourney this season. Central won that game 58-51 with DARIAN WHITE totaling 19 points in the win. COX had a game high 26 points in the loss...

Waukegan
, one of the state’s top teams, placed second in Illinois 4A last season and won a school record 26 games. The program is led by 6’7” Illinois bound senior and Illinois Mr. Basketball candidate JEREME RICHMOND, who committed to Illinois as a North Shore Country Day freshman. An all state selection firmly committed to Illinois every since, RICHMOND is of top prospects in the country and averaged 20.3 ppg in 2008-09. He was the IBS Illinois Newcomer of the Year as a frosh and last season was named IBS Illinois Player of the Year...A 6’1” senior, QUAN CONNER has interest from programs that include Illinois-Springfield…


Southeast
is the returning Central Sate Eight Conference champion, which lost their all time leading scorer to graduation, but is led in part by 6’4” senior MICHAEL CHANDLER, one of the top rebounders in the area and senior forward WILLIE BROOKS
